Miracle Mile flows are 1896 cfs.

The mile has been fishing great with flows around 2000 cfs making for great float fishing.    Pmd’s and Golden Stones are on the menu.  Fishing two fly nymph rigs has been productive.  However, throwing big dries will pay off to the dedicated anglers.  Swinging big streamers in certain areas will also produce big fish, so don’t forget the 7wt!  Typically around the end of July, the Trico hatch will delight anglers daily with spinner falls around 9-10 am.  Throwing big foam grasshoppers can also produce explosive strikes!

Snowy Range Fishing Report 2021

Most of the multitude of high alpine lakes in the Snowy Range are now accessible.  The USDA Forest Service has implemented stage one fire restrictions for the area.  July and August are great months to escape high water and air temps and head up to the high country of the Snowy Range Mountains.  With literally dozens of lakes to choose from, its a destination that is tough to beat.  With a such short growing season, trout are typically eager to smash any dry fly pattern.  However, we see grasshoppers, beetles, and especially flying ant hatches in July and August.  Here is a list of tried and true dry flies we like to use.

One thing that stands out about the 2021 season, is the epic Pmd hatches that have come off.  The entire month of June it was a daily occurance.  This years Salmonfly hatch was par for the course as well.  Golden Stones and morning and evening Caddis hatches also delight anglers.  Typically, towards the end of July, anglers can expect good to great Trico hatches anywhere from 9 am to 10 am daily.
