Lake Hattie Fishing Report

Lake Hattie Fishing Report:

2019 Lake Hattie Fishing Report:

Lake Hattie has fishable open water thanks to the Wyoming wind the past few days. Rainbow trout are gearing up for the spring spawn. Egg sacks and egg patterns are popular among bait fisherman this time of year. Dead sticking balanced leeches and midge patterns under an indicator is a proven tactic with fly fisherman. Therefore, our custom balanced Tui Chub and egg sucking leeches have been super productive since ice off. Similarly, red and purple chironomids, such as the Candy Cane larva are very productive.

Please contact the Wyoming Game and Fish Department for current fishing and boating regulations here: https://wgfd.wyo.gov/fishing-and-boating

Spin fisherman are tearing it up with an assortment of Rapalas, and spoons.  As well as, spinners like Panther Martins and Rooster Tails. Furthermore, our favorite color variation is black/yellow body, with a gold spoon Panther Martin.

Our custom articulated War Bonnet streamer fished on floating and sink tip lines fit the bill nicely for the lobster size crayfish that live in Lake Hattie. Designed specifically for this water.

Miracle Mile Fishing Report

Miracle Mile Wyoming Fly Fishing Guides
Miracle Mile Wyoming

The Mile is fishing great! Stream flows are fluctuating at 500 cfs. Pre spawn rainbows are starting to stage up from Pathfinder Reservoir. Two fly nymph rigs with small bugs and egg patterns have been the ticket.

Scuds, red and brown midges, leeches, and emerger patterns are on the menu. Therefore, look for small baetis (Blue wing olive) coming off on days above 40 degrees. We have been swinging big streamers down below the bridge in slower water. Which, in turn, has produced some nice brown trout. Out of respect for one of the finest tail water fisheries in the world, please be mindful of rainbow trout spawning beds. Its simply not worth it.

Current snowpack in the high country of Colorado/Wyoming is at 128%. We anticipate plenty of water to play on this summer.  We are permitted to run the entire North Platte River system from the Wyoming/Colorado border all the way to Alcova, Wyoming. 240 miles.  Great for overnight and multiple day trips upstream from Miracle Mile.

Please call us at 307-399-9464 anytime for current conditions, fly patterns, or to plan your 2019 dream trip in Wyoming!   Check out current flows for Miracle Mile here:https://www.usbr.gov/projects/index.php?id=114

Grey Reef Flush 2019

Grey Reef Flush 2019:

The annual Grey Reef flushing flows are tentatively set to begin on Monday, March 18th. Provided that the river is free of ice. These regulated flows remove sediment off of rainbow trout spawning beds, with up to 4000 cfs. This event is known for epic fishing conditions thanks to all of the aquatic life getting stirred up. The trout simply gorge themselves!

One day last year we pulled off the river for a quick break. As we looked upstream, we noticed three bald eagles wading intently picking up crayfish in the shallows. Now everyone knows that I am a streamer junkie, so immediately switched to the streamer. Before we even took off we where stripping in good fish off the swing. Point of the story is to appreciate that all species of wildlife benefit from the treasures of the North Platte River during the flush.

From past experience, skilled anglers can expect 50-75 fish days nymphing. Swinging big custom articulated streamers can produce trophy browns and rainbows that will blow your mind! Don’t be afraid to think outside the box on bug selections, but scuds, leeches, egg patterns, baetis, and midges are on the menu.             https://www.usbr.gov/newsroom/newsrelease/detail.cfm?RecordID=42484
